On Sunday 25 May 2025, the Birmingham Reggae Carnival took over Hockley Social Club, transforming it into a pulsating hub of Caribbean energy. From the moment the first bassline dropped, it was clear—this was more than just an event; it was an experience.
With street closures creating a festival-like atmosphere, the carnival featured multiple arenas, each offering a unique slice of reggae magic. Whether you were vibing to the live reggae band, getting lost in the hypnotic beats of the Dancehall DJs (also known as Bashment DJs), or simply soaking in the electric energy of the crowd, there was something for everyone.
Of course, no reggae carnival is complete without jerk pork and jerk chicken, and this was the real deal. The smoky aroma of Caribbean spices filled the air, fuelling revellers as they danced their way through the night.

Adding to the authenticity, TikTok sensations Julz and Star, known as The Latchmans on YouTube, brought their signature energy, engaging the crowd with real Jamaican dance moves that had everyone skanking and whining as if they were back in Kingston.

The carnival dancers did not come to play—they came to slay. Decked out in dazzling costumes, they moved with precision and passion, proving that reggae and dancehall are more than just music—they are a way of life.

But perhaps the most beautiful part of the night was the mix of cultures. People from all backgrounds came together, united by the rhythm, the food, and the undeniable magic of reggae.

As the night wound down, one thing was certain—we will be back. The Birmingham Reggae Carnival 2026 is already on the radar, and with outfits picked out and vibes locked in, the countdown has officially begun.
Until next year, Birmingham—keep the reggae alive.
