Robinson and Musk fuel anti‑Muslim hate with false Guadeloupe “attack” claims

JamRadio News Desk

A tragic vehicle accident in Guadeloupe has been cynically weaponised by far‑right agitator Tommy Robinson and amplified by tech billionaire Elon Musk, spreading hysteria and anti‑Muslim hate across social media.

On December 6, Robinson posted on X claiming “10 dead as a car is driven into a Christmas market preparation crowds in France’s Guadeloupe. Legacy media silent.” The framing deliberately suggested a terrorist attack on a European Christmas market, despite the fact that the incident occurred thousands of miles away in the French Caribbean.

Musk then added fuel to the fire, replying simply: “Again.” His intervention gave the misleading narrative global reach, reinforcing the false impression of a repeat Islamist attack in Europe.

Fact Check

The accident took place in Guadeloupe, a French overseas territory in the Caribbean, not mainland Europe.

Local reports confirm it was a traffic incident, not a politically or religiously motivated attack.

By omitting this context, Robinson’s post and Musk’s amplification created a false link to previous extremist attacks on European Christmas markets, stoking fear and resentment against Muslims.

Robinson's manufactured panic is part of a wider pattern: He has repeatedly used tragedies to push anti‑Muslim narratives, while Musk’s platform has increasingly been criticised for enabling misinformation and hate speech. The combination of Robinson’s inflammatory rhetoric and Musk’s global megaphone risks normalising racist scapegoating under the guise of “free speech.”

Piers Morgan has weighed in on the dabate, posting on X:

Such deliberate misrepresentation does not merely misinform, it endangers communities. By framing a Caribbean accident as a European terror attack, Robinson and Musk have spread baseless panic, vilified Muslims, and undermined trust in legitimate reporting.
